Wise Music Academy

Under the umbrella of The Wise School Music Academy, there exists a wide variety of musical opportunities for our students, both during school and after hours.

Mondays:

  • 3:45-4:45 p.m. Jazz Band, with Max and Jeff.
  • 3:45-5:00 p.m. Private Violin Lessons, with Mui-Yee.*
  • 3:45-5:00 p.m. Private Cello Lessons, with Mui-Yee.*
  • 3:45-5:00 p.m. Private Piano Lessons with Megan, Josh, or Patrick.*
  • 3:45-5:00 p.m. Private Clarinet/Saxophone Lessons, with Max.*
  • 3:45-5:00 p.m. Private Flute Lessons, with Randy.*
  • 3:45-5:00 p.m. Private Drum/Percussion Lessons, with Jeff.*

Tuesdays:

  • 3:45-4:45 p.m. Rock Band.
  • 3:45-4:45 p.m. Primary Choir, with Faye.
  • 3:45-5:00 p.m. Private Violin Lessons, with Mui-Yee.*

Wednesdays:

  • Lunch Hours: Vocal Ensemble, with Randy (fee included in tuition).

  • Introduction to Orchestra: This tuition program is for those young student musicians who are just beginning to learn an instrument. In addition to discovering the basics of playing music together and the fundamentals of music performance, students will perform 3 recitals throughout the school year.
  • Instrument Instruction Program (K-3rd): For an additional fee, all students enrolled at Wise School have the opportunity to study an instrument with a private instructor. Instruments include piano, violin, and guitar. All student musicians will perform 3 solo recitals throughout the school year.
  • Primary Choir (Grades 1-3 only): Primary Choir is a tuition-based program for those young student vocalists getting started in the the vocal performance track. They will learn the basics of how to sing properly, as well as experience the joy of singing with others. They will learn a wide variety of songs, perform 2 major concerts (Winter and Spring Music Festivals) participate in school events, as well as travel to The Jewish Home for the Aged to entertain.
  • Concert Orchestra (4th-6th or by individual skill): The Concert orchestra is a tuition based program for those student musicians studying in the Instrumental instruction Program or privately. They will perform 2 major concerts (Winter and Spring Music Festivals), as well as 3 recital performances featuring each individual student. the orchestra will also participate in other school assembly events.
  • Modern Jazz Band: The Modern Jazz Band is a tuition based program for student musicians focusing on the techniques of jazz performance and improvisation. They will perform in the 2 major concerts (Winter and Spring Music Festivals) and other school assemblies and events.
  • Rock Band: Rock Band is a tuition-based program for student musicians interested in learning the fundamentals of how to “rock out.” Instruments include Guitar, Keyboards, Bass, and Drums. They will perform in the 2 major concerts (Winter and Spring Music Festivals) and other school assemblies and events.
  • School Musical: Students may audition to be part of our Spring Musical, where they develop acting, singing, staging skills, as well as the fundamentals of commitment, teamwork, and collaboration. Students may also build vocal, dramatic, and oratory skills through a board range of opportunities, while also gaining an appreciation for the power of music and a love of theater. Past plays include Annie, Music Man, Oliver, Peter Pan, and Fiddler on the Roof. We always encourage students to pursue their passions, build confidence, and inspire creativity.
  • Instrument Instruction Program: For an additional fee, all students enrolled at Wise School have the opportunity to study an instrument with a private instructor for 30 minutes per lesson. Instruments include piano, flute, clarinet/saxophone, percussion (timpani, snare, drums), violin, cello, and guitar. All student musicians will perform 3 solo recitals throughout the school year.
