Artist-in-Residence

Welcome to our Wise School Artist-in-Residence

You may have noticed some new banners around campus. They are part of a temporary installation, from our Artist-in-Residence, Mario M. Muller. More of Mario’s banners will appear around campus in the coming weeks. Our students have been learning with Mario throughout the year. Last semester, they studied self-portraiture and its influence upon contemporary culture, including the ‘selfie.’ This semester, students will discover how cropping an image can change the meaning of a a picture or photograph.

Mario M. Muller is a prolific artist, who has studied art, film, photography and design in the U.S. and Europe. As a painter and sculptor, he has had over 20 solo exhibits on both coasts and abroad. His work is showcased in Fortune 500 companies, including Twitter, Deutsche Bank, Radio Shack, Banana Republic, LG&E, National City Bank, and Pfizer.

Also well-known for his public art, Mario has been the recipient of numerous public and private commissions, the latest of which is an MTA Arts for Transit commission for 12 Glass Windscreen Panels for a subway station in the Bronx, New York. Mario’s murals at the Louisville International Airport and the Kentucky Center for the Arts were early milestones to an impressive career. You can learn more about Mario M. Muller at mariomuller.com.

We hope that you take the time to relax and enjoy Mario’s exhibit while you’re on campus, or better yet, ask your children about the great work they’re doing with Mario and Jan!
