Dear 3rd Grade Parents,

The universal concept for 3rd grade this year is “adaptation through change.” We did some thinking about what it means this week during Ms. Ross’ birthday on Tuesday. Ms. Ross talked to all the 3rd graders about some of the ways in which she had adapted to change over time during her life. For example, when Ms. Ross was two years old, her brother, Tyler, was born so she had to adapt to being a big sister. Ms. Ross also had to adapt to living in a brand-new environment when she moved away from home to go to college at San Diego State University. Using Ms. Ross’ experiences as a starting point, the 3rd graders were then able to share some examples, as well as definitions, of what adaptation means to them. It was a very interesting and enlightening conversation. We can’t wait to see how our exploration of adaptation through change grows throughout the rest of the school year!

Below please find all of the information you need to know about the upcoming week in 3rd grade. We look forward to seeing you at Back-to-School Night!

Warmly,

The 3rd Grade Teachers
