It is our hope that everyone is safe, well, and that your homes survived the fires. While we are still thinking about those who are confronting fire challenges, we do have good news to report.

We are pleased to be able to tell you that Wise School will be open tomorrow! After a tremendous effort from our maintenance and operations staff, the school is ready for our students and teachers to return. In the past few days we tested the air quality in every classroom. In addition, all air filters have been changed. We ran the air cooling and heating system and tested the output from every vent. After inspecting every classroom we were grateful that there was no smoke damage on our campus. Therefore, we did not have to do any chemical cleaning at all. Members of our school administration have been on campus throughout the weekend and have walked the classrooms and everything looks great.

At this time it is so important to express our gratitude both to the amazing staff at Stephen Wise Temple who kept our campus and Torah scrolls safe, as well as to the fire and police departments who kept our entire neighborhood safe. Through their tireless acts of devotion, we are all able to resume our work.

We know that some of our families had to evacuate their homes, and many of you reached out with offers of help and hospitality. It was inspiring to see that our school vision of experiencing wholeness and making great happen was actualized this past week.

While Wise School fared well, our neighbors at Leo Baeck did sustain some smoke damage. Therefore, tomorrow we will welcome their preschool as their temporary home for this week.

Our elementary school community will come back together at 8 AM in the sanctuary for a morning assembly. At this time we will share song and prayers of gratitude. Our school counselor will be available for any students who might want to talk about their experience during the past week. I also want to reassure all families that our school calendar with instruction through June 13 allows us to meet the required number of instructional days. While some schools have to change their calendar, Wise School is set.

I look forward to seeing everyone on campus tomorrow!
